East African Pine

East African pine is a highly versatile and widely available plantation timber, extensively accepted by the construction and packaging industries.

It produces lumber that is well suited for framing, industrial components, pallets, crates, posts, cladding, decking (when treated), interior trims, and everyday furniture.

Heartwood formation generally begins at around 12–15 years of age.

The most commonly found species in the East African regions of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania & Rwanda are Pinus patula (most dominant), Pinus elliottii, Pinus caribaea.

Wood Anatomy & Structure

Long tracheids with excellent length-to-diameter ratio

Resin canals are visible as fine, pale to amber lines within the latewood bands of the growth rings.

Growth rings are wide, due to fast growth.

Sapwood proportion is (65–80%), heartwood formation begins ~12–15 years

There are two different pallet designs:

The Block Design
The Stringer Design

The block design utilises cylindrical posts, which separate the top deck from the bottom deck. Block pallets utilise both parallel and perpendicular stringers to better facilitate efficient handling.

The stringer design utilises runners – wood components that run the full length of the pallet. The top deck is fastened to the top edge of the stringers.

Designed with impeccable strength to weight ratio wrapped with versatility & available in standard or fully customizable dimensions.

East African Eucalyptus

East African eucalyptus is a widely planted and commercially important hardwood plantation species, primarily utilized for structural, utility, and industrial applications such as plywood core veneers, blockboard cores, shuttering plywood, and engineered wood panels, utility poles, transmission poles, heavy posts, beams, sleepers, and load-bearing structural members, where strength and stiffness are critical performance requirements.

Eucalyptus-3

The most commonly cultivated species include Eucalyptus grandis, Eucalyptus saligna, Eucalyptus camaldulensis, and, in select high-altitude zones, Eucalyptus globulus. These species are favored for their fast growth, straight stems, and suitability for industrial processing.

Wood Anatomy & Structure

Has a dense and compact cellular structure that contributes to its high strength and stiffness.

Growth rings are often wide and clearly defined, reflecting the species’ fast plantation growth.

Early heartwood development (within the first 8–10 years) and dense vessel structure explain eucalyptus’ higher strength and durability, as well as its greater resistance to fluid movement, which makes drying and preservative treatment more demanding but highly effective in applications such as plywood core veneers and engineered panels, where the wood’s movement is restrained through lamination.

Eucalyptus veneer is known for its attractive burl and curly grain patterns, offering a natural, flowing appearance.
Its strength and consistency make it a preferred choice for veneer and panel applications.

Pine veneer features a clean, straight grain and light, uniform colour.
Its easy peelability, stable bonding, and good strength-to-weight ratio make it ideal as a core veneer for plywood, doors, furniture panels, and industrial boards.

From structural plywood cores to heavy-duty engineered panels, our veneer cores provide the internal strength and consistency that reliable panels are built on.
